covid compensation for employers in Germany, parent rant

We've just been told our employer won't be compensated for our missing working hours. The reasoning is: We could have used emergency care! Instead, we worked for 2 1/2 months from home, effectively just about 50% of our hours.

We had been told that emergency care is for *emergencies*. Not for all people who need child care. I mean, what does the government think WHY our little one is in child care? So we can go to the fucking spa!?

This is so unjust! This is such a trainwreck of reasoning!
They said: Everyone who can work from home has to stay home! They closed the Kindergärten and left us alone with our kids, then stuffed some money into our mouths to stifle our angry acreams.
What they are saying NOW is: everyone who works and isn't really able to work from home with a small kid there should have used emergency care!

Oh FUCK you!

@TQ here in Bavaria they only offered that kind of emergency care before Christmas, and now in January. We had to use it, we both work.

@jens Whoa, that's incredibly unfair.

We are also both working. We could have used emergency care, if we had only known we *were* a case for emergency care! But that's not what they told us, right? They said: Stay the fuck home. I am so angry!

@TQ well, I'm self-employed, so I managed to get some compensation for the first part of 2020. But it's not as if that made up for lost income.
